Fundraising and Projects

Easter 2012 saw the completion of a major project. In the place of a very ‘tired looking’ vestry we now have a new kitchen, toilet facilities and first floor Meeting Room.

The 3 bells were removed during this rebuild and following a significant project have now been re-installed and augmented to produce a ring of 6 bells. For more information on our project to restore our bells see the Bells Restoration Page. A booklet compiled at this time, telling of the Old and New Bells is on sale in church. As part of the second phase of this project, we needed to raise funds on a grand scale. We have a monthly Village Lottery. Other fund raising opportunities include a Gift day, Afternoon Tea, Raffles etc.

More recently in 2023 we have been concerned with stopping water ingress in the Tower. This has been a problem for decades. Following an estimate of many thousands of pounds we eventually managed to find an excellent builder who has fitted GaleBreaker Pro mesh in all the lucerne windows in the steeple for a much reduced cost than was originally thought. These are withstanding the effects of the heavy rains we are subjected to from time to time. Time will tell if the money we eventually raised for the work to be done has been worth it. We are indebted to Community fundraising and some small grants obtained by our Treasurer.

Apart from the Sunday services throughout the year, we have other services that encourage visitors and residents. All services are posted on the noticeboard at the church entrance and in the Community Newsletter.

Annually there is a service of Songs of Praise, our Wakes Service held on St Bartholomew’s Feast day which is August Bank Holiday weekend, Harvest celebrations, and a Carol Service.

2018 Remembrance service

The 2018 Remembrance service marking the centenary of the ending of WW Iwas recorded and broadcast by BBC Radio Stoke. A recording of the service is available here.
